Year-at-a-glance

CURIOUS TO KNOW WHAT YOUR YEAR ON THE OOKS LIFE TEAM MIGHT LOOK LIKE?
HERE IS A SNEAK PEEK OF WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT AND THE HOURS REQUIRED…

March

Welcome to the team! It is time to get started on your training and job shadowing.

  • 5 to 15 hours
April

This month will feature more training and shadowing the outgoing team members to learn what worked and where changes need to be made for the next school year.

  • 10 to 15 hours
May

Put your experiences, perspectives, and training to work at the “Think Tank” retreat. This two-day event will stretch the grey matter in your brain to help NAITSA shape the campus experience for the next school year.

  • 15 hours: Think Tank ONLY
June

Start building your project plans while working off campus and communicating with your NAITSA supervisor over email & Microsoft Teams meetings.

  • 5 to 15 hours
July

Project plans continue to be developed for the upcoming year.

  • 10 to 30 hours
August

While working remotely, you’ll continue to work, finalize details of assigned project plans, and submit them for final approval to supervisors. All project charters are due at the end of August.

  • 30 to 55 hours
September

We like to caution students that September is one of the hardest months of the year. Routines are uprooted, and classes are in full swing. Student staff are busy learning to implement events/projects, including orientation. Students can utilize the Ooks Life Team room at the NAITSA office to work on their projects on campus.

  • 35 to 56 hours
October

The team has settled into the new routine and getting the hang of things. Shifts include events, promotions and project work.

  • 20 to 35 hours
November

Implement events, promotional campaigns, club, and volunteer initiatives as needed.

  • 15 to 30 hours
December

Hours of work are decreased to allow student staff to focus on their academics.

  • 5 to 12 hours
January

The holiday break is over and it’s time to welcome a new group of students to NAIT. Work expectations are similar to September, with a heavy focus on welcome activities.

  • 20 to 40 hours
February

The workload is scaled back to accommodate Reading Week and midterms.

  • 12 to 25 hours
March

March continues with business as usual, with the addition of wrapping up current projects and training the incoming Ooks Life Team.

  • 20 to 32 hours
April

It’s time to wrap up the year and close out any projects. There are less work hours to focus on final exams and class projects. A key responsibility is helping to transition next year’s team. The end of your term is April 30, 2024.

  • 5 to 18 hours
